Suspected Gunmen have invaded four communities in Akure North local government areas of Ondo State, killing over 20 farmers.

The bandits during the midnight attacks sacked Pastor camp, Sunday village Ademekun camp and Aba Alajido camp within Ala Elefosan.

According to a source, the yet to be identified Gunmen have been attacking different communities and killing farmers unchallenged lately.

The source noted that 14 dead bodies were recovered in the last 48hours while the search for other missing residents continues.

Confirming the attacks , the Regent of one of the attacked communities, Ademekun Village, Princess Adelowo Adekemisola, expressed sadness over the killings of more than 14 farmers last weekend by the Gunmen .

The Regent said that her community had been battling with the bandits invasion without necessary actions from security agencies.

According to her, the assailants came through the Edo-Ondo boundary to attack them.

Spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami, while reacting to the incident said the police and security agencies are working hard to track down perpetrators and to protect other communities around Akure North Local council area.
