At least eight persons have been reportedly killed on Monday morning by gunmen along the Takum-Chanchanji Road, in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, North-East Nigeria.
The victims were said to be en route to Wukari Local Government Area of the state, when they came under gunfire, between Chanchanji village, in Takum Local Government Area, and Saa’yi Village in Benue State.
Eyewitness reports say all passengers and the driver in the public vehicle were killed, but their valuables were not taken.
The Takum-Chanchangi Road has become notorious for criminal activities and attacks on travellers lately.

It will be recalled that the Third-Class Chief of Chanchanji, Tanimu Kumbiya and his son, were murdered by gunmen on the Takum-Chanchanji Road, while returning to their domain, from a burial ceremony three weeks ago.
The Taraba State Police Command waa yet to issue an official statement on the incident, as at the time of filing this report.
