At least eight people have been reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits following an attack on worshippers in a mosque at Saya-Saya village in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A source from the area who confirmed this said the incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on Friday when the villagers were observing their Isha’i prayers at about 7.20 p.m. at a local mosque when the gunmen arrived on three motorcycles and started shooting sporadically on the worshippers.
Multiple sources said no one was abducted, but suspected that the gunmen were on a mission for the head of the vigilante, who was also among the eight people killed.

According to them, the gunmen had completed their mission and left the village by the time security agents from Ikara town, and the Palgore area arrived at around 12:30 a.m.
Those who sustained gunshot wounds have been taken to the hospital.
The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Muhammed Jalige, could not be reached on his mobile phone to confirm the incident.
