Gunmen Launch Fresh Attack On Yelwata In Benue State Killing 3 People

There is tension in Yelwata in Benue State following another alleged attack by gunmen on the community in the early hours of Monday, which left 3 people dead.

Eyewitnesses said the renewed attack triggered a protest by local women, who took to the streets demanding that soldiers stationed in the area be withdrawn to their barracks.

The aggrieved residents also called for immediate transportation to Makurdi, insisting they no longer feel safe in the community.

The latest incident happened close to 2 months after the infamous Yelwata attack that claimed hundreds of lives and displaced thousands.

The IDP media and publicity head, Joseph Joo, took to his social media handle to name the deceased.

The community is calling on government and security agencies to urgently intervene to save them from further attacks.
