Director of the Centre for Research at the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State, Bello Janbako has been abducted from his residence in the Damba area the state capital, Gusau.
The incident was said to have occurred overnight Thursday.
A resident of the area said the kidnappers forced their way into Janbako’s residence at about 2 A.M after storming the area and shooting sporadically to scare people away.
He said, security forces were promptly alerted, responded swiftly and engaged the terrorists in a gun battle to repel the abduction but they couldn’t as the kidnappers eventually escaped to the forest with their victim.
The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Federal University Gusau chapter, Abdulraman Adamu confirmed the incident which he described as sad.
The Police in Zamfara State were yet to confirm the incident at the time of this report.
