Team Nigeria’s gymnastics team has returned to the country after a commendable outing at the African Clubs Gymnastics Championship held in Centurion, South Africa.
The team, made up of 16 athletes from the tig gymnastics club, Abuja, and NLNG Ra club in Bonny, Rivers state, arrived in Abuja at exactly 12 noon to a warm reception.
The chairman National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, who received the athletes on behalf of stakeholders, commended their performance and made a heartfelt pledge to refund parents for expenses incurred in supporting the children’s participation in the championship.

The event featured over 250 athletes from top gymnastics clubs across Africa, including South Africa, Uganda, and Nigeria.
Nigeria’s angela marinoni, dida david, and oluwapelumi ilesanmi all claimed gold medals, while jochbed ibrahim secured bronze, and chiwendu okpanku impressed with an outstanding haul of five silver medals.
