229 graduates of Nursing Sciences have formally been inducted into the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, during the 10th UNICAL Induction/oath taking event held at the institution’s conference center in Calabar.
The Vice Chancellor of UNICAL, Professor Florence Obi while speaking, stressed the profound responsibility these inductees now carry as she urged them to uphold the highest standards of care, recognizing the immense trust placed upon them as guardians of people’s lives.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Angela Oyo-Ita, Professor Obi hailed the historic achievement, noting that the 229 inductees spanned across the academic sessions of 2020/2021 and 2021/2022, a feat unprecedented in the university’s history.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, University of Calabar, Professor Ngim Ngim underscored the urgent need to retain skilled professionals within the Nigerian healthcare system.
Furthermore, amidst the jubilant atmosphere of the ceremony, voices of the students resonated as they called for comprehensive reforms within the nursing profession.
