Health experts have called on government and corporate bodies to invest more on training of psychiatric doctors as well as make better provision for children and adolescent wards in public hospitals especially for young people who are victims of drug abuse.
The call was made in Abuja during an awareness campaign to support the renovation of children and Adolescent Psychiatric wards in Karu General hospital by the Abuja Mega Lions Club.

There has been an upsurge in mental health issues associated with drug abuse in Nigeria.
Unfortunately, few hospitals have the required facilities and personnel to handle the number of cases. The Lions Club is filling the vaccums with a fund raising event.
Monies generated will be used to renovate government health facility in Abuja for children and adolescent Psychiatric patients.
The Managing Director of Karu General Hospital, Osamuede Ojo called on other Nigerians to emulate the Lions Club.
The N50 million health facility project will upon completion be used to rehabilitate victims of drug abuse and also reduce the burden of care for families of the victims.
