Members of the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals are to embark on a warning strike from midnight of Monday, January 31 in Lagos State, South-West Nigeria.
The workers action which will cripple delivery of healthcare services in public hospitals is to protest against poor working condition and non-payment of their salary arrears.
Speaking after an emergency congress, members of the Union, the labour leaders noted that despite efforts to get the Lagos State Government to approve and begin immediate implementation of their demands, the authorities have remained adamant.
The Union has its members drawn from practising pharmacists, medical laboratory scientists, physiotherapists, medical social workers, dental therapists, dieticians, optometrists, radiographers and occupational speech therapists in the service of the Lagos State Government.
The planned warming strike by the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals is coming just few weeks after nurses in Lagos State threatened similar action.
