The Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU, and Assembly of Healthcare Professionals Association are threatening to go on strike if the ongoing public hearing on the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria(repeal and re-enact) Bill, 2020 is not suspended.
At a briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, National Chairman of JOHESU, Biobelemoye Josiah called on the president of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan to suspend the sponsor of the bill, chairman of the Senate committee on health, Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe, accusing him of bias against other health workers during the public hearing.

The health workers argue that the intention of the proposed bill is to place medical doctors in control of other professional bodies and create friction among workers
The senate committee on health, held a public hearing on Monday on five pending health bills.
