The Medical and Health Workers union is urging the Federal Government to ensure swift implementation of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure, CONHESS, approved since July 2023.

Acting President of the union kabiru minjibir who doubles as the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, said despite the salary adjustment for Health workers, his union is on alert by the NLC to join any action to better the lot of the struggling worker as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

It is the first national executive Council meeting of the medical and health workers union since 2021.

A cheering news for the workers as the Federal government has approved the Consolidated Health Salary Structure, CONHESS, which had remained an item of agitation since 2014.

However, the health workers are making fresh demands with regards to the effect of fuel subsidy removal and ongoing talks between Labour and the Federal government.

The workers get the backing of immediate past NLC President and one time National chairman of the joint health sector unions, Ayuba Wabba.

There were messages of assurances for a better workforce in the Tinubu government to the health workers from representatives of the minister of Labour and Employment, the Coordinating Minister of health and the FCT Minister.
