Healthcare workers decry shortage of manpower in Kogi, demand recruitment

The Kogi State Chapter of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria has appealed to Governor Usman Ododo to recruit health workers into the various hospitals and primary healthcare centres in the state following the acute shortage of manpower in the sector.

The union’s Chairman, Gabriel Amari, made the call during its 8th Quadrennial State Delegates Conference

He noted that the shortage of manpower across the 21 Local Governments of the state was a serious threat to healthcare delivery.

The Eight Quadrennial State Delegates is coming at a very critical time health workers are faced with challenges ranging from high cost of living, insecurity to acute shortage of manpower in hospital, and primary health care centres.

The national President, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria Comrade Kabiru Sani sympathized with members across the nation over the current life-threatening socio-economic conditions.

The Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Labour matters, Onuh Edoka, promised that the Ododo administration will look into the plights of health workers in the State.
