The legal battle between the suspended chief, known as the Enigies and the Oba of Benin at the Edo State High Court suffered setback on Monday following transfer of the presiding judge.
The suspended chiefs are challenging the authority of the Oba of Benin to suspend them.
Journalists were barred from entry into the court room but according to counsel for the defendant, Samson Osagie, the new judge handling the suit adjourned the case to October 17 for hearing of the matter afresh.

Men of the Nigerian Police Force in their large numbers, barricaded roads leading to the the court as well as blocked the gate of the court preventing people from gaining access to the court premises. Some Benin Palace Chiefs who were prevented from entry into the court condemned the action of the police.
The Oba of Benin had suspended some chiefs due to alleged insubordination.
