Herbert Wigwe: Late Bank Chief, Wife And Son Laid To rest

The Isiokpo country home of Herbert Wigwe, the late bank chief and philanthropist was in deep mourning on Saturday as thousands turned out to pay their last respect.

Wigwe, his wife and son who all died tragically in a helicopter crash in the United States was described by many as an iconic figure in Nigeria’s business environment and his death, a big loss to Nigeria.

The event was attended by top personalities in the business community and in politics.

This is the moment the body of Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba and son Chizzy arrived the airport in Port Harcourt on Friday, ahead of his final journey home.

On Saturday morning, his country home in Adanta-Isiokpo, which has been in mourning since the news of his death became public, receives hundred of visitors who arrived to pay their last respect to the man who they say stood out in the Nigerian business sector.

The funeral service is conducted at the lion of Judas parish, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

It is attended by prominent Nigerians in government and in the private sector, and they share their thoughts on the man and his family who they came to honour.

In his local community, Wigwe’s impact is visible.His University project stands prominently, as a testament to his commitment to human development and excellence. The locals here are still in grief.

Herbert, his wife Chizoba and son Chizi were later laid to rest in a private ceremony at his home town, Adanta Isiokpo, in Ikwerre Local Government area of Rivers State.
