Following several calls from aggrieved agrarian host communities in Delta State, seeking total evacuation of herders and their cattle out of the State; the State government says it has commenced processes to end the act of herdsmen taking laws into their hands while in the State.
The Director-General of Security Matters, David Tonwei made the disclosure at a peace meeting in Asaba the State Capital.
With the ongoing last-minute efforts to effect observations raised during the State legislators public hearing on the Anti-open grazing bill that will end Cattle incursions into farmlands, the Director-General on Security Matters, David Tonwei says the State government has proactively decided to place Fulani elders on the forefront of the campaign against herdsmen attacks.

Earlier, some of the farmers narrated how the nefarious acts of the herders have affected the soil nutrients, adversely.
While the State House of Assembly Anti-open grazing bill and the State government efforts are underway to end herders’ incursions into Farms; residents of the State also want the Hausa/Fulani metal scavengers to be stopped from their activities following cases of their invasion of homes and stealing off portable metal household appliances.
