Gun wielding herdsmen have invaded Ohoror Secondary School in Ohoror Community, Ughelli-North Local Government Area of Delta State, inflicting many with injuries and disrupting academic activities.

The herders who attacked during academic hours shot sporadically and instilled fears in the agrarian community, over a face-off with farmers who have severally lost their farm produce to cattle grazing.

Despite the Delta State Anti-open grazing law, provisions for ranching and several meetings between the Police in the state, the herdsmen and farmers to broker peaceful coexistence, has continued to fail.

Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Patrick Muoboghare, on a visit to the school, condemned the herder’s invasion and said the state government has taken a preliminary step of closing down the school, pending when a lasting solution is reached.

It would be recalled that eleven farmers were killed by the herdsmen on February 15, 2020, in an attempt to rescue the community women, converted to sex slaves, in the herders’ captivity.
