The Plateau South Senatorial bye-election has witnessed large turnouts of voters in all the six local government areas that make up the district. They include Wase, Mikang , Shendam, Langtang North, and Langtang South Local Government Areas.
Many voters were seen on queues in several polling units as early as 8.40 a.m.
Plateau State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hussaini Halilu Pai, who addressed newsmen in Shendam said that the polls have commenced and that there had been no hitches so far.

Pai, who stressed the need for compulsory use of face masks at all polling units and all election locations said any voter without a face mask shall be turned back.

The people of Plateau South had spent 10 months without a representative in the Senate and this election, provides them with the opportunity to do so as the electoral umpire assures of free, fair and credible election.
