A Nigerian Journalist has been crushed to death by a hit-and-run driver in Ebonyi State in the South East region of the country, according to a Press statement released by the State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Tuesday.
The victim identified as Sunday Agara was reportedly crushed by the hit-and-run driver while returning home from his farm on the Nwezenyi Ebonyi axis of the West Africa Trans-Sahara highway.
The Ebonyi NUJ Chairman, Sampson Nwafor, who announced the tragic death, described the incident as painful and devastating to the union, as it’s coming barely one month after another colleague, Simon Ezaka was involved in a ghastly motor accident along the Abakaliki – Afikpo highway.
The NUJ statement says Agara was one of the best Public Relations Officers under the Ebonyi State government’s employ, who demonstrated competence and dexterity in the discharge of his duties as a PRO.
The Ebonyi NUJ Chairman further stateed that, as a Unionist, he contributed immensely to the growth and stability of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ebonyi State, through his active participation in the Union’s activities and programmes.
The deceased was a staff of the Ministry of Information and State Orientation, Ebonyi State, deployed to the State Ministry of Power and Energy as a Public Relations Officer.
