Hundreds of homeless indigenous people of Bakassi will soon heave a sigh of relief, as the housing units built by the Cross Rivers State government are ready to be handed over to them.
Commissioner for Information, Asu Okang, stated this during an inspection of the housing units at Ifiang Oyong, in Bakassi Local Government Area of the State.
He said the project became necessary after over 6,000 Bakassi people were rendered homeless due to the ceding of their ascentral lands by the Federal Government to Cameroon in 2008.

An indigene of Bakassi, Iyadim Iyadim, commended the Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade, on the completion of the 400 housing units project and appealed to the Federal Government to support Governor Ayade in ameliorating their sufferings.
