The House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Loans, Aids, and Debt Management, led by its Deputy Chairman, Lanre Okunlola, has explained that their visit was on an oversight function, to assess the development at the airport, in preparation for its takeover by the Federal Government.
The Committee paid a courtesy call on the Kebbi State Governor at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
The committee deputy chairman expressed happiness about the facilities on ground at the airport, and pledged to facilitate the process of the takeover, in line with the policy of the Federal Government.

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris said that his administration spent over N15 billion on the infrastructural development of educational institutions in the last year.
According to him, a significant amount of money was expended on the construction, rehabilitation, renovation of schools’ structures, as well as the procurement of instructional materials for teachers and students.

He further informed his guests that the state and local governments jointly purchased and distributed assorted fertiliser, worth more than N7 billion to attain food security.
On security, Idris said that his administration purchased 30 hilux vehicles and 1,000 motorcycles, which were distributed to the various security agencies, including vigilantes, to strengthen security in all parts of the state.
