House-Of-Reps

The Nigerian House of Representatives has initiated the constitutional review process, focusing particularly on the area of security, due to concerns across the country.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, mentioned this during a condolence visit by House members to Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, following the Kuriga School abduction, and Gonin Gora attack.

The Speaker, Tajuddeen Abbas, and members of the 10th Assembly were in Kaduna to express solidarity with the state, regarding the attacks on Kuriga and Gonin Gora.

Tajuddeen, who believed that kidnapping in Kaduna was under control, expressed dismay at its resurgence and assured that the House is ready to collaborate with Kaduna State, to ensure the rescue of the abducted victims.

The Speaker elaborated that the House has initiated a constitution review programme, focusing on the security aspects, and the establishment of state police.

Governor Uba Sani commended the leadership of the House of Representatives for its foresight, emphasising that the creation of state police will address security issues in the country.

The House of Representatives also announced its plan to hold a National Security Legislative Summit after Ramadan, aiming to engage with critical stakeholders, on ways to achieve lasting peace in the country.
