The Nigerian Senate has confirmed seven nominees out of the 10 sent by President Bola Tinubu for appointment as Resident Electoral Commissioners for Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This followed the adoption of a motion by the Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele
The nominees took turns to highlight their career profile and professional experiences, before their new appointment
Those confirmed are :
Etekamba Umaren (Akwa Ibom), Isah Shaka Ehimeakne (Edo), Oluwatoyin Babalola (Ekiti), Abubakar Ahmed Ma aji (Gombe).
Others are Shehu Wahab (Kwara), Aminu Kasimi Idris (Nasarawa), Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq (Niger).
President of the Senate Godswil Akpabio in his remarks said the 10th National Assembly is determined to enact laws that would hold the electoral managers accountable.
