Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-formal Education, Professor Simon Ibor has called on state governments and private establishments to key into the country’s literacy programmes and other empowerment strategies to reduce unemployment and poverty.
Professor Ibor who made the appeal in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital during the Commission’s flag-off of empowerment strategies for South-West Nigeria, said young individuals need to be taught the requisite capacity needed to succeed in the present-day world.

The South-West is the last zone to host the flag-off of the literacy programme where the Federal Government delegation discussed strategies with state governments and the private sector on how best to combat unemployment and reduce poverty in the country.
Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu in his speech acknowledged the relevance of the initiative, noting that all South-West state governments will key into the initiative by the Federal Government which seeks to reduce unemployment in the country.
Fashion design, catering, hairdressing and barbing are some of the areas youths in the zone would be encouraged to explore.
