Governments, religious and community leaders in all states have been urged to rise and join the fight against the rising cases of rape currently ravaging the Nation.
Some stakeholders and members of the National Human Rights Commission in Plateau State staged a walk to the state house of assembly and parts of the metropolis to sensitise residents on the need to stop rape in the society.
Their leaders Ochanya and Pwakim said they were worried that without sincere efforts from critical stakeholders to ensure the fight against rape and other forms of gender-based violence against women, the menace would continue unabated.
The Commission says it wants the commitment of the state assembly towards establishing laws against gender-based violence.

The speaker in his response said the house strongly frowns at the scourge and is ready to do all within it’s powers to pass bills that will help protect women and children.
They called on all Nigerians to see the fight as a collective one if the battle is to be won.
