The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management And Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, who is also the wife of the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate in Bauchi State, has reacted to the statement by a Bauchi-based group, which alleged that she has diverted the country’s social investment programmes to Bauchi State, for her husband’s ambition for 2023.

According to a press statement issued by the minister’s spokesperson, Nneka Anibeze, the group also accused the minister of abandoning her office and relocating to Bauchi, to push for the interest of her husband, retired Air Marshal Abubakar Sadique, who is contesting for the 2023 Governorship of Bauchi State, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In her reaction, the minister said she can not be deterred by what she described as belly-aching detractors.

According to her, the ministry under her watch in 2019, empowered no less than 20 million Nigerians, through various programmes and initiatives of the ministry, including youths, graduates and non-graduates.

She said, by her marriage to an indigene of Bauchi, just like any other Bauchi woman, she has full right to support her husband, and no one can stop her from reaping or sowing the seeds of development in her husband’s state, neither prevent her from supporting the political interest of her husband.

She said she remains committed and unshakable by her detractors, as she is working hard to reduce poverty in the country, in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s Agenda of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.
