The forum of APC Governors, and states’ chairmen have adopted Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda as its next chairman.
This came after a series of marathon meetings and consultations that ended in the early hours of Thursday morning. The party will hold its National Executive Committee meeting at the banquet hall of the presidential villa by 2pm where Yilwatda will be formally announced.
The meetings which was convened by the chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma of Imo state had in attendance almost all the governors on the party’s platform save for Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos state and Akwa Ibom state Governor Umo Eno who was represented by his deputy
The governors later proceeded to the presidential villa at around 8pm, ostensibly to brief the president on their decision.

The governors later held a second meeting with the state chairmen of the APC to secure their endorsement. Afterwards, Yilwatda was tied up in a long meeting with a few party leaders till about 3am.
AIT News learnt that Yilwatda, who is from Plateau state, was the president’s choice, a decision aimed at ensuring some level of religious balance within the ranks of the APC both at the party leadership level and the federal government levels.
