Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, says the state draws comfort from the message of hope, love, and peace as it commemorates the 2025 Bayelsa Carol of Nine Lessons, even as the state continues to mourn the passing of the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
Governor Diri, while appreciating Bayelsa State people for their support and solidarity with the government, notes that activities marking this year’s celebration are deliberately toned down in line with the sober mood in the state.
It was a soul-lifting night as Bayelsa State people gathered at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall for the annual Bayelsa Carol of Nine Lessons.
Although the event is observed without its usual glamour, it still features a variety of musical renditions from different choirs, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour.
Guest preacher and South-South Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Archbishop Emmah Isong, speaks on the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ and its message of salvation.
Governor Diri reads the Ninth Lesson from the Book of Matthew, Chapter Two, verses one to six, noting that he had considered shelving the programme following the death of his Deputy but approved it as an act of honour to God and in memory of the late Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
As Bayelsa State observes the Carol of Nine Lessons, the state blends Christmas reflection with quiet remembrance, drawing strength from faith and unity in a time of loss.
