For over 3 weeks now, internally displaced persons who are farmers in over 10 communities in Miango, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State who fled attacks by suspected herdsmen have refused to be camped at any IDPs facilities.

Paramount ruler of Irigwe Chiefdom, Reverend Ranku Aka, who made this known to AIT in an exclusive interview also said that attacks are still going on in his domain despite the presence of security operatives.

Jebbu Miango and other communities in Miago Chiefdom attacked in a series of invasion by suspected herdsmen which began since July 29, are now shadow of themselves after residents abandoned their houses which were looted and set ablaze by the assailants.
Over 2,900 farmers and their families are said to have been displaced after the attack and have refused to be camped in any facility.
Another issue of concern, is the continues destruction and looting of crops on farmlands overnight.
While efforts to rid the area of criminal elements are already yielding results with the recent arrest of 8 persons by the Operation Safe Haven in connection with the killings in Miango Chiefdom, the situation in the affected communities no doubt needs urgent attention as residents have been displaced and their means of livelihood destroyed.
