The Senator representing Anambra South, Ifeanyi Uba, on the platform of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), has formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a letter addressed to the President of the Senate and read during plenary on Thursday, the lawmaker attributed his defection to irreconcilable differences with his party.

Ubah, the only YPP Senator in the red chamber, added that, as a dedicated politician and a representative of the people, he believes that the move has become exigent, owing to the growing need and call from his constituents to align himself with a political party that best reflects his values and aspirations.

Senator Ifeanyi Uba pointed out that after careful consideration and due consultations with his family, constituents, political associates, and critical stakeholders, and after a thorough evaluation of the political landscape in Nigeria, he has come to the realisation and conclusion, that the All Progressives Congress, APC is better suited to champion the ideals and principles that he holds dear.

The Anambra Lawmaker said that the APC’s commitment to good governance, economic development, and social progress, resonates deeply with his convictions, and its national reach, and the alignment of its members on key national issues, make it an appealing choice for achieving the promises he made to his constituents for their betterment.

He stressed that he has been the National Leader of the Young Progressives Party for several years, and he is grateful for the opportunities and experiences it has provided him.

Ubah says that as the nation faces numerous challenges that have trickled down to his constituency, he must align himself with a party that can address these issues effectively, for the betterment of his constituents and constituency.

He noted that the All Progressives Congress has demonstrated its ability to lead and govern with purpose, both at the national and state levels.

He added that he is impressed by the “Renewed Hope” initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and has found it necessary to join the train, to initiate his Senatorial District into the laudable vision.

He pointed out that he looks forward to working collaboratively with his colleagues in the APC, to bring about positive change in the country.
