The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba says 10 brand new equipped Toyota Hilux Patrol Vehicles will be provided to beef up the Cross River State Command before the end of January.
The IGP made this known when he visited Governor Ben Ayade in his office in Càlabar.
Alkali Baba stressed the need to work with other security agencies to secure the Calabar water corridors.
The Police Chief attributed the peace and tranquility in Cross River to Governor Ayade’s relentless support to the State Police Command.
He called on other States to emulate the good work the Cross River State Government is doing to secure its territory.
The IGP said 250 Police recruits from the State who are undergoing training will be deployed to the State upon completion of their training to address the dearth of personnel in the command.
In his response, Governor Ayade described Alkali Baba as a visionary IGP who has brought innovations and transformational leadership to policing in the country.
The IGP had earlier addressed the officers and men of the command on the New Policing Strategy with a promise to provide their basic needs.
