Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has ordered a nationwide security deployment to ensure a safe and peaceful Easter celebration across the country.

In a statement, by Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the Police High Command said Commissioners of Police and tactical commanders have been directed to implement robust security measures, including the deployment of intelligence operatives, special intervention squads, and conventional personnel to worship centres, highways, and other public spaces.

The Police Chief also extended Easter greetings to Christians, urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.

The Force also says security has been strengthened nationwide with increased patrols, surveillance, and intelligence-led stop-and-search operations aimed at deterring crime during the Easter period.

The Police also announced enhanced presence at motor parks, recreational centres, and critical infrastructure, while emergency response lines have been activated for prompt reporting of suspicious activities.

The IGP assured that all necessary measures are in place to guarantee a hitch-free and secure Easter celebration for all Nigerians.
