IGP says Police ready to deal with bandits shifting base from northwest

The Nigeria Police Force says it is ready to deal decisively with bandits and other insurgents, trying to shift base from the epicentres in the northwest to other parts of the country, by re-strategising its operational tactics.

The Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu said this, while addressing officers and men of the Katsina State Police Command, during a strategic operational meeting.

He said the police who are saddled with the responsibility of maintaining the internal security of the nation, is equal to the task.

The Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, noted that, the police will not fold its arm and allow bandits or other criminal elements take over the nation, as witnessed in the recent kidnap and rescue of the 344 students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara.

Adamu also added that, to ensure the police live up to its task, in the face of the recent rise in different crimes and criminality, it has resolved to partner with other relevant players in the security sector of Katsina state, to redefine its strategy.

He appreciated the officers and men of the command for the high level of peace enjoyed in the state, except for the pockets of banditry, he charged them to continue to exhibit high level of professionalism, with a view not to lose guard.

The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, appreciated the Inspector General of Police for providing the enabling environment for the police to effectively discharge their responsibility, in terms of human and material resources.

He promised that the men and officers of the command will continue to build upon the existing successes recorded, to keep policing the state.

The meeting which later went into private discussion had in attendance, the special adviser to the governor on security matters, Ibrahim Katsina, the Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeder’s Association in the state, Mannir Atiku, representatives of both the Emirate Councils of Katsina and Daura, among other key players in the security sector of the state.
