State Police Commissioner, Shawulu Danmamman who made this public through a statement by the Command spokesperson, Wasi’u Abiodun, said the training programme complied with the Inspector General of Police’s directive on training and retraining of personnel, towards ensuring capacity development, and boosting professionalism in police service delivery.

The statement adds that the Commissioner has directed and initiated a weekly training programme in the Command, which has since commenced, and is taking place at the Police Training School in Minna, and the 12 Police Mobile Force Operational Training Ground also in the Niger state capital.

CP Danmamman is also said to have directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to nominate at least one participant weekly to attend the training, which according to him, consists of seven area commands and 46 divisions, making a total of 53 participants to be trained weekly.

The training programme, described in the statement as highly intellectual and physical, will be centred on the areas of code of conduct, professional attitude, discipline, general human rights provisions, introduction to community policing, basic public relations, NPF social media policy, use of firearms and combat craft.
