The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has cleared the air, stating that the recent explosion at a filling station in Ikeja, Lagos, is not linked to the NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd (NGML)/NIPCO Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Stations.
According to the statement signed by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, the NGML/NIPCO CNG Stations, which were recently commissioned, are functioning safely and without incident.
The NNPC Ltd emphasized that the explosion did not affect the NGML facilities in Lagos, including pipelines, metering stations, above-ground installations, and CNG facilities, which are all in safe operating conditions.
The company reassured the public that it is not involved in the activities of the affected station and that the incident is unrelated to its operations.
This clarification comes after concerns were raised about the safety of the NGML/NIPCO CNG Stations following the explosion in Ikeja.
