The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has condemned an attack on the Director General of the Abia State PDP Governorship candidate Campaign Organization, Chinedum Elechi in Umuahia
The Campaign Organisation Director General was reportedly attacked by an individual who is identified to be an operative of the Department of State Services, DSS attached to Ebonyi State command, though his name is not given to the press.

It is alleged that the attacker used a sharp machete on his victim, leaving multiple machete cuts all over his body.
In a press release by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, Governor Ikpeazu salutes the courage of members of the public and men of the Nigeria Police who helped to overpower the lone assailant and recovered the instrument of attack.
The Governor is demanding a thorough investigation into the attack, urging the State Commissioner of Police to ensure that the suspect who is in police custody, is made to face the full weight of the law.
The Police in Umuahia are yet to speak on the incident.
