The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has intercepted a large consignment of illicit drugs cleverly concealed as green tea at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, said 66 parcels of Loud—a potent strain of cannabis—disguised as green tea packages were seized by operatives on Thursday, June 5th, at the cargo wing of the Lagos airport.
The 62.2-kilogram shipment arrived from Thailand via the United Arab Emirates on an Emirates Airlines flight.
According to Babafemi, acting on credible intelligence, NDLEA had placed the cargo under surveillance for over three weeks before inviting other stakeholders for a joint inspection.

Still in Lagos, on Monday, June 2nd, NDLEA operatives intercepted another massive consignment—this time, 1,665 kilograms of skunk cannabis—along the Lekki-Ajah Expressway. Two suspects, Gidado Abdulrasaq Ayinde and Obanla Oluwafemi, were arrested in connection with the haul.
In Kaduna, the agency also arrested 29-year-old Goodluck Nnaemeka on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway with 612 bottles of codeine syrup and 2,970 pills of
flunitrazepam.
On the same day, 52-year-old wanted drug dealer Kabiru Musa, also known as KB, was captured at Kurmin Mashi. Earlier, 25.7 kilograms of skunk had been recovered from his hideout.

In Edo State, NDLEA operatives recovered 9 kilograms of Loud hidden in the spare tyre compartment of an Audi station wagon.
The driver, 45-year-old Atari Israel, is now in custody.
In a separate raid on June 3rd, two young women, Favour Joy and Joy Igwe, were arrested in Benin City. A staggering 106.57 kilograms of skunk, along with quantities of Loud, Colorado, and methamphetamine, were found in their possession.
