Immediate past NNPC GMD, Maikanti Baru Dead

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC has announced the demise of its immediate past Group Managing Director, Maikanti Kacalla Baru.

Baru, a consummate Mechanical Engineer, died of an undisclosed ailment on Friday night in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, Kennie Obateru who issued a statement on behalf of the oil company says the Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari expresses shock over the sudden death of Dr. Baru who was the 18th GMD of the Corporation.

Kyari described the deceased as a man “of exemplary character and disposition”.

My brother, my friend and my mentor, Dr Maikanti Kachalla Baru, immediate past GMD of NNPC died late last night. He was of exemplary character and disposition. May Allah forgive him and have mercy upon him.

Baru, 60, was the GMD from July 4th 2016 to July 7th 2019. The deceased hailed from Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
