The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Audu Bosso, has dismissed three police officers for their involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, and car snatching in the state.
The affected officers, Sergeant Ekwueme Gift, Sergeant Eto Ikechukwu, and Corporal Divine Ogwuaru, were officially dismissed on February 12, 2026, following an orderly room trial which found them guilty of offences bordering on armed robbery, kidnapping, car snatching, and impersonation.
Investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly carried out the criminal act on February 8, 2026, along Mbaise Road in Owerri, where they reportedly robbed residents at gunpoint and forcefully snatched a vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was later tracked along the Owerri–Onitsha Road while the suspects were allegedly attempting to dispose of it.

Further findings according to the police showed that the dismissed officers were not officially assigned for patrol on the day of the incident and had falsely presented themselves as members of the Tiger Base Unit of the Command while perpetrating the crime, an act described as a serious breach of professional conduct.
Commissioner of Police Audu Bosso reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for corruption and unprofessional behaviour and has directed the Command’s Legal Department to ensure the immediate arraignment of the suspects in court.
