As part of efforts to address the security challenges in Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodinma has directed the Police Command to immediately mop up arms in the hands of unauthorised individuals.
Governor Uzodinma gave the directive during a meeting with traditional rulers and Local Government Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House Owerri.

Uzodinma said that for government to succeed in the fight against insecurity in the state, security must be beefed up in the rural areas.
He therefore mandated that no arms and ammunition is to be found in the hands of people not authorised to hold such.
Responding, the ALGON Chairman Willy Okolieogwo, and Chairman, Traditional Rulers Council in the state, HRH Eze Emmanuel Okeke
pledged their total support to the efforts embarked upon by the Governor to fight insecurity in the State.
Governor Uzodinma implored the traditional rulers to advise their subjects who are willing-tools in the hands of the devil to desist forthwith from banditry or have themselves to blame.
