Imo Governorship Election: Zones disagree on next Governor

Ahead of the 2024 governorship election in Imo State, there are mixed feelings as to which zone should produce the next Governor of the State.

Some leaders from Owerri zone in Imo State are insisting that the next governor should come from the zone, while others think Governor Hope Uzodimma should serve out two tenures to enable him consolidate on his good works.

The issue came to the fore at the fourth year anniversary of the popular Egbu declaration.

It was a gathering of some eminent sons and daughters of Owerri Senatorial district for the fourth anniversary of the popular Egbu declaration.

The event known today as Egbu declaration centered on the development and welfare of Owerri zone, made up of the nine local government in the senatorial district

Some people at the event are of the opinion that the current governor Hope Uzodimma, has done well for the people of the state and Owerri zone in particular and should be given another chance.

With this divided opinion some political experts still believe it is too early to delve into the politics of who becomes what in Imo State.
