Some residents of Imo State are throwing their weight behind the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on the proposed Monday, September 28, nationwide strike over the increase in electricity tariff and petrol pump price.
They faulted the Federal Government’s decision and timing of the increment, describing the action as totally uncalled for.
The people believe that the proposed nationwide strike will affect the nation’s economy adversely, but blamed the Federal Government for being insensitive to the plight of the masses, according to them, the increment should not have come at this difficult time.
They insist that the Federal Government should listen to the yearnings of the suffering Nigerians and reverse the decision.

The Chairman of the NLC Imo state chapter, Austin Chilakpo, also affirmed that failure to meet up with labour’s demands would make the strike inevitable by Imo workers.
