Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has pledged to improve the welfare of teachers in the state.
The governor made the pledge as teachers in the state on Thursday joined their counterparts all over the world to commemorate the 2023 Teacher’s Day.
Governor Uzodimma told the teachers who converged on the Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri, that he will domesticate the federal government’s policy on the 65 years of age or 40 years in service policy for retirement of teachers, promising to work out the modalities with the leadership of their union on the legal framework that would back it up.
The Governor while felicitating with teachers in the state and country at large, noted that Teachers remain the bedrock and indispensable foundation for the progress and development of any society.

He commended the labour, steadfastness, relentless commitment and exceptional determination of Imo Teachers in impacting value, knowledge and nurturing the potentials of her future leaders.
The theme of the 2023 Teachers’ Day celebration is; “The Teachers We Need For The Education Ee Want: The Global Imperative To Reverse The Teacher Shortage”.
