The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Caucus in National Assembly on Thursday held an emergency meeting to harmonise the impeachment process against President Muhammadu Buhari over rising insecurity in the country.
The meeting led by the minority leaders of both chambers, Senator Philip Aduda representing the Federal Capital Territory and Representative Ndudi Elumelu from Delta State unanimously agreed that the lower chamber will join the upper chamber to issue a six-week ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the persistent insecurity in the country or face impeachment by the National Assembly.

Briefing journalists after the closed session, the Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu said they are on the same page with their Senate counterparts.
According to him, both chambers of the National Assembly have given the Presidency all the required legislative support to fight insecurity in the last six years without any visible result.
Elumelu reiterated that the PDP will not stand to watch the country collapse, under the current administration, assuring that, upon expiration of the stipulated ultimatum, signatures will be gathered across party lines to perfect impeachment of President Buhari.
The lawmaker spoke on the recent terrorist attack on the Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre, shut down of schools by the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Law School invasion threat, Naira depreciation and the crisis rocking the aviation sector which has made it difficult for ordinary Nigerians to fly.
Minority Leader in the Senate, Philip Aduda said the move to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari is not restricted to PDP lawmakers but cuts across party lines.
The PDP senators walked out of plenary on Tuesday after the President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan denied them opportunity to deliberate on threats of terrorists siege on the Federal Capital Territory Abuja and rising insecurity in the country.
