A Disability rights group, TAF Africa, has called on the Cross River State government and all stakeholders to hasten the implementation of the Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities Prohibition Act, 2018, and the Disability Rights Law of 2021.
The organization made the call during a sensitization workshop with government agencies, disability clusters and other stakeholders in Calabar.
Speaking in an interview with journalists, the Chief Executive Officer of TAF Africa, Jake Epele, who said there was no better time to push for inclusivity than now, commended the state government for embracing the project.
Epele who noted that TAF was interested in seeing and ensuring that the Disability Commission, which will ensure the implementation of the disability law, comes to fruition added that TAF has developed the guidelines for inclusive election in the state.

Also speaking in an interview with journalists, the Project Coordinator of TAF Africa, Uche Enyioha, who noted that discrimination was man made, stressed that there was nothing about persons with disability that called for discrimination.
Also advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities, a participant at the event, Nnanke Ettah, called for their inclusion in governance, as they deserved to be carried along.
Government at all levels were urged to ensure that the rights of People with Disabilities is top priority.
