Following confirmation of the first case of Covid-19 in Zamfara State, Governor Bello Mohammed has ordered a statewide re-fumigation with chemical disinfectants as part of measures to control the spread of the virus.
The Governor in a statement signed by his Director-General Press Affairs, Yusuf Idris, says the chemical disinfection has since commenced at the Yariman Bakura Specialists hospital,Y Farida General Hospital, and the Federal Medical Centre, all in Gusau, the state capital.

It says, the second round of the fumigation is being led by the Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Nurudeen Isah.
Governor Mohammed says, his administration is taking proactive measures to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus and appeals to the people to cooperate with the Government, in its efforts to address the spread of the virus.
He assures that his government will not relent in taking measures that will protect the lives and the properties of the residents.
The Governor , explains that the use of chemical disinfectants for the fumigation will assist in curtailing the spread of the virus and improve the hygiene of the state.
He also solicits for the citizens continued support in the fight against the spread of the disease, as Government is feeling the pains of the hard time, under low economic conditions.
He promises that Government palliatives will reach all the nooks and crannies of the State.
The Governor also urges Muslims to intensify prayers in this Holy Month of Ramadan for Allah’s intervention, to end the Coronavirus pandemic in the state, the Country and the world at large.
Areas to be fumigated include motor parks, markets and places of worship, as well as other places for social gathering.
