Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has warned against indiscriminate and unorganised sharing of palliatives to crowds during this Christmas.
Force PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while briefing journalists on Saturday, said the warning follows a series of tragic incidents that highlight the urgent need for a more structured and effective approach to delivering aid to vulnerable communities and members of the public in general.

While citing section 196 of the penal code and section 344 of the criminal code of Nigeria, the Police Chief directed both organisers and Commissioners of Police in all the commands to ensure full compliance
The police authorities extended their condolences to families of those who died in stampedes in parts of the country.
