The National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mahmood Yakubu has inspected some existing and new polling units within the Federal Capital Territory, FCT and its neighboring state Nassarawa as part of the nationwide verification exercise for new polling units.
Speaking to Journalists while on the verification exercise of the newly converted polling units in Nassarawa state, Yakubu said the commission had converted 395 voting points to polling units in Karu Local Govt. of Nassarawa state.
He said the creation of polling units will be a continuous exercise to keep tackling the growing crowded polling units during general and off season elections across the country and urged key players and community leaders to support the commission in sensitising people on the ongoing exercise for expansion of polling units.

The Commission’s Electoral Officer, Abuja Municipal Area Council, Falimatu Bakare said before now the PU had one polling units and six voting points as four of voting points were being moved to other public and open spaces including Stella Maris School, Paradise Caffee Garden and others for easy access to voters around the area.
Some of the centers visited include polling units located in Government Secondary School Life Camp, Apo Legislative Quarters, Zone-D entrance gate Apo, in to the FCT, the commission’s office in Maraba.
