The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Francis Nwifuru, as the winner of 2023 Ebonyi state Governorship Election.
The Returning Officer for the election, Vice Chancellor, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Professor Charles Igwe, announced the results on Monday.
Prof. Igwe says Nwifuru, polled a total of One hundred and ninety-one thousand, one hundred and thirty one votes (199,131) votes to defeat his two closest rivals Ifeanyichukwu Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Prof. Bernard Odoh of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.

The PDP emerged in second place with total Eighty thousand, one hundred and ninety-one votes (80191) while the APGA was third with Fifty two thousand, one hundred and eighty-nine votes.
Nwifuru, who is currently the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly is now set to replace incumbent governor, Dave Umahi on May 29, 2023.
