INEC Delivers Sensitive Materials For Ondo Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday distributed sensitive election materials to all the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State, ahead of the governorship election on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

At the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s branch in Akure, the State capital, INEC distributed ballot papers and result sheets to Election officials, while the distribution of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines to the Local Governments took place at the INEC headquarters in Akure, in the presence of security agencies, representatives of the political Parties, the Media, and Election Observers.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for the State, Oluwatoyin Babalola, told Journalists that the process of distribution of the sensitive election materials was smooth and without hitches.

She attributed the simultaneous distribution to effective logistics put in place by the election management team, noting that arrangements had been made to handle peculiar needs of challenging terrains.

She explained that gunboats provided by the Nigerian Navy would secure the movement of materials across difficult water routes, while suitable means of transportations had been arranged for land routes.

The State Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Olaoluwa Adesanya, expressed satisfaction with the electoral commission’s readiness for the conduct of Saturday’s off-cycle governorship poll in Ondo State.
