Gombe State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sa’ad Umar Idris has commenced courtesy visits to key stakeholders in the electoral process in the State.
Idris who began his visit with Members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security emphasized the strategic role of Security Agencies in delivering credible elections.
He stressed the importance of security agencies in the Commission’s operations, particularly as the 2027 General Elections approach.
Idris offered to personally support the training of security personnel on election duties, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle electoral responsibilities.
He briefed the Police Commissioner on the forthcoming Continuous Voter Registration exercise scheduled to commence on August 18, 2025 for online pre-registration and August 25, 2025, for in-person registration and called for support to ensure a smooth and secure CVR excersice.
In his response, the Commissioner of Police, Bello Yahaya, commended the Idris for the visit and assured him of the full support of the Gombe State Police Command for all the Commission’s activities.

The REC also paid courtesy visits to the Commander of the Nigerian Army 301 Artillery Regiment and the Gombe State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, both of whom pledged full support for the Commission’s electoral activities in the state.
